Since we can't rely on Coon anymore, I have added the link to the actual document to the left panel.
Things to keep in mind for us today:
Things to keep in mind for us, immediately after the 2023-24 regular season:
Things to keep in mind for us in July 2024:
Things to keep in mind for us today:
- 2nd round pick exception: 3+TO starting at 2yMPE & 2+TO starting at 1yMPE
- The salaries are 1yMPE 1yMPE-NG 2yMPE-TO aka Isaiah and 2yMPE 2yMPE 2yMPE-NG 3yMPE-TO aka Chandler respectively
- First apron around (?) $7m above luxury tax
- Taking salaries over 110% in a trade hard caps you at apron, just like s&t, BAE, big MLE already do
- As we can see, MLE numbers are much higher for Room (up to 3 years!) or Non-Taxpayers (still 4 years), much lower (only 2 years!) for Taxpayers
- By the first day of regular season, any team under the cap floor will have the difference between its team salary and the floor added to its payroll, so it can’t use that amount as available cap space anymore + not allowed to further decrease its team salary
- No limit on designated extension players
- 140% of previous/average salary extensions
- 5y rookie extensions
- May decline TO/PO then sign an extension in which the first season’s salary in the new contract is less than what the player would have made in that option season
- After the moratorium, RFA matching within 1 day and a few hours (anyhow I usually just pause the entire FOFA to avoid teams stalling)
- New multipliers for tax rates & repeater tax - but that's probably something only I need to worry about
- May have fewer than 14 players on a standard NBA contract for no more than 28 total days during the regular season and never for more than 14 straight days
- Minor: a cap on how many minimum contracts can be thrown into a deal when that deal is done at any time except for Dec. 15 through the trade deadline. In deals outside that period, if a team is aggregating two or more salaries in a trade and getting at least one player back, and the number of contracts that team is sending out is more than the amount of players it is receiving in return, then that team cannot trade more than one minimum contract. But a team can aggregate two minimum deals if they are the only contracts the team is sending out
Things to keep in mind for us, immediately after the 2023-24 regular season:
- Taking salaries over 100% in a trade forbidden if you are above apron
- Abolish Owner Cap?
- Can't use prior TPE unless you're under apron
Things to keep in mind for us in July 2024:
- 2nd apron $17.5m above luxury tax
- If above 2nd apron: can't aggregate outgoing salaries, no MLE, can't send out s&t
- If above 2nd apron after the regular season (spring 2025), can't trade the pick 7 years ahead (2032) aka "frozen pick"
- If above 2nd apron also 2 out of 4 ensuing seasons, the frozen pick becomes 30th
- Unfrozen if under 2nd apron in 3 out of 4 ensuing seasons (may unfreeze the 2032 mentioned above by 2028 or 2029)
- If you make a trade after regular season that hard-caps you at 1st/2nd apron, the hard cap remain for the entire season after that
- Able to use the non-taxpayer/room MLE or BAE to acquire a player or multiple players in a trade or on a waiver claim
- If under 1st apron: up to $7.5m - take back 200% +$250k
- If under 1st apron: $7.5-30m - take back 100% +extra $7.5m
- If under 1st apron: over $30m - take back 125% +$250k
- Extend-and-trade 120%, 4y
