Thanks for the thoughts, Joni - always appreciated. Maybe this is what we are looking for more often. Why can't we talk through these perceived questionable trades rather than immediately bashing the GMs and putting them on the defensive? I feel like we could avoid so much drama by just having the GMs involved in the trade state their case and we talk through it rationally before it comes a "league crisis." And frankly your most passionate owners are the ones who are going to probably get the most upset. That's just how it works. They are into this and that's exactly what we desperately need. It really sucks to lose Dylan.
A couple final thoughts and I will let this go. First, regarding your value system. It seems great and probably more of us should use it given your success. But this again is one of our biggest issues IMO. Why should we have to? Or why is that valuation system the standard? Why can't GMs have their own valuations system and views? It seems as though when you and the Commish see a trade you wouldn't do, or that hurts your franchise in some way (which to me shouldn't be a factor at all - that's how it works in every real life and fantasy league. Every single trade hurts at least one team, or at least is perceived to on the day it happens), you want to contest it and immediately start going after those involved. You both are maybe right on player valuations more than any of us, but we have to respect other GMs' views as well. Especially the ones that have been in this league for multiple years. It seems like every time a GM gets upset it's because you don't agree with their analysis on a player. It's hardly ever CBA-related.
You noted how the Embiid trade was dictated by the market. So was the -- one. Again, couldn't have been more upfront with their intentions and goals to the league. So, what is the difference? We can't pick and choose. All we are looking for is consistency and to remove the subjectivity. Save the challenges for the trades that are outrageously egregious.
Keep in mind we are doing this for no financial incentive as well. I know it requires us to put in 10% of the work you two do, but we are still taking a ton of time (during a holiday week for some) to try to make this a great league. We spend hours on a trades only to have them rejected because it doesn't fit the league's trade charts. GMs get bashed, etc.
That's all. We can end this thread and move on (I know most of you thought we already did, lol..it was a busy day). Just know again that these emotional responses are due to the fact that we really like and enjoy this thing the commissioner has built. I look forward to more rationale discussions and appreciate all you and the Commish do to make this an awesome thing for all of us.
