Given the KD saga IRL where most trades are off-limit coz Ben Simmons can't share a locker room with another designated rookie, I figure we need to track these more explicitly. I'll use good ol' column R of the team sheets, unless anybody has a better idea.
www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q24 tells us:
"There is a limit to the number of designated players a team can have on its roster at a time. A team can have up to two designated rookies (who received a longer rookie scale extension) and up to two designated veterans (who received higher than the 30% maximum salary) at any time. However, only one designated rookie may have been acquired from another team in a trade."
And then comes the table, where we have now established that 2nd case (RFA LBR 5y contract above 25% max) is simply called a designated player, not counting against either of the above limits.

Jokic designated player according to FA19 sheet (got over 25% despite 4 years of experience) drafted by the team in 2014
Gobert designated vet according to FA21 sheet (got 35% despite fewer than 10 years of experience) drafted by
in 2013 and traded to
in 2018/19

Trae designated player according to FA22 sheet (got over 25% despite 4 years of experience) drafted by
in 2018 and traded later

Bam designated rookie extension (longer) in 2020 from
, later traded

PG13 designated vet according to FA19 sheet (got 35% despite 9 years of experience) drafted by
IRL and surely traded

Luka designated rookie extension (longer + over 25%) in 2021

Giannis designated vet according to FA21 sheet (got 35% despite fewer than 10 years of experience) drafted by
in 2013 and traded while on his rookie deal

Garland designated rookie extension (longer) in 2022
