2019, probable opts in:
Ben McLemore 6,600,000 – I mean… He might not even be in the otherwise.
Ryan Anderson 12,480,000 – call it a golden pre-retirement year.
DeMarre Caroll 18,080,550 – he could probably get a longer contract but I don’t see him passing on that kind of money.
Ekpe Udoh 2,130,936 – might not get another contract otherwise.
DeMarcus Cousins 19,000,000 – we might want to wait for the end of the Finals to make the call but from what I just saw in Game 3, I think it’s an easy call.
DeAndre Jordan 25,595,700 – you can make a case for him going for a longer contract but I don’t think he gets close to this on the open market anymore.
Tyler Johnson 16,500,000 – maybe he can find a longer deal but his per year salary would drop off a cliff in my opinion.
Chandler Parsons 18,288,000 – one of the easiest call you can imagine…
Dwight Howard 25,595,700 - … probably with this one.
Kevin Love 25,595,700 – you can make a case for an opt out but after playing only 22 games, he probably wants to reestablish himself before negotiating his last big contract.
Paul Millsap 26,581,700 – I think opting out would be too risky when there is this much on the table.
Jared Dudley 2,730,000 – with a lot of uncertainty on his future, it feels like the safe bet.
Tyson Chandler 13,325,000 – no way he gets that kind of deal otherwise at age 36 and coming of a 34.5 fpg season.
Gorgui Dieng 16,900,000 – same here, almost 17M coming off a 34fpg season and a diminishing role? Deal.
Justin Holiday 5,453,280 – tough one, I think he can go both ways. There is a path for him to get more in the right situation but there is also a lot of uncertainty. I would play it safe.
Alan Williams 4,459,678 – obvious, he is a fringe NBA player.
Jae Crowder 25,102,511 – he is good but there is no way he gets that much again.
Gerald Green 3,382,000 – you can certainly make a case for an opt out. I still think he goes for safety as he might be a fringe player next season.
Harrison Barnes 25,102,511 – the days he can expect that kind of money are over in my opinion.
Al Horford 30,123,014 – as great as he is, I don’t think he would get that much as a free agent. At age 33, there is certainly a case to be made for him going for a longer contract though. I wouldn’t mind either way.
Hassan Whiteside 25,102,511 – he takes the money while trying to reestablish himself.
Chris Paul 37,930,226 – as great as he is, the age and injury risk might prevent him from getting close to this ever again.
Tyreke Evans 15,289,723 – obvious choice, he wouldn’t get that kind of money after the year he had.
Probable opts out
Kevon Looney 3,150,000 – Obvious call. 52ppg this year with potential for more in a better situation: payday is coming.
Bradley Beal 25,102,511 – time for a max contract I guess.
Pat Beverley 7,662,000 – I would feel pretty comfortable looking for a better and longer deal.
George Hill 4,671,450 – at his age, I think he tries to capitalize on his recent play to get a second year guaranteed.
Javale McGee 2,726,882 – absolutely can’t accept that kind of money after a career year.
Bryn Forbes 1,645,357 – perfect timing to negotiate a nice contract.
Stephen Curry 32,775,010 – he has all the power in the world so he takes the freedom to take the new contract he wants, whatever it is.
Kawhi Leonard 21,329,750 – going for the max.
Nikola Mirotic 12,000,000 – could go both ways but I think he can find a nice-longer deal.
Danny Green 11,600,000 – he might take the money but after a great year like this and considering his age, he probably wants to get a shot at a longer contract.
Mike Conley 27,200,000 – though one. He could go either way but I feel it might be his last opportunity to get a longer deal.
Ben McLemore 6,600,000 – I mean… He might not even be in the otherwise.
Ryan Anderson 12,480,000 – call it a golden pre-retirement year.
